From Soho to the Top

Last full day in Hong Kong. We went wandering around Soho and Central. Visiting a temple and enjoying some local food. We ended the day on top of the city at ozone bar. Highest bar in the world, at least thats how they advertise it. I admit I expected the prizes in there to be as sky high as the bar itself (it's on top of the Ritz-Carlton), but it was actually ok and I would recommend it to anybody who visits Hong Kong.

Letzter Tag in Hong Kong.

My last amazing HK meal was this noodle soup. I wish there was such food in Stuttgart. But then again there would be no point on traveling when there's the same thing everywhere. And I am definitely coming back to Hong Kong. Maybe I can get a job here after I graduate.
Next: Going home, watching the world cup Germany vs. Brazil at the airport New Deli and after 36 hours arriving home. Now writing my master thesis and not going anywhere for a while. Unless I write fast, very fast...

Beach Day

I knew Hong Kong has beaches and amazing hiking trails, because my 3 favorite bloggers (and the only blogs I still read regularly) blog from Hong Kong. So thanks to dear CindyMrs. Christing C. and Samantha I knew Hong Kong was the place to be, and to explore. And I was not disappointed.
Taking the Metro and a Bus and suddenly we were in paradise. Hot paradise. It took 2 hours to walk to the beach and I almost died of a heat stroke. Next time I need a hat. Or more dips along the way in this beautiful water.

Full View

First full day was dedicated to sight seeing. We went to Hong Kong Island and walked around, went to see the breath taking view from the peak wandered around some more, just to enjoy the busy city. Old meets new, concrete jungle meets real jungle. East and west intertwine. Hot humid weather and a perfect sky gave us just the right holiday feeling.

Hong Kong City

I went to Hong Kong for a week, for vacation. It has been on my list for a long time now and finally the opportunity came. I was there half a day and already considering never going back home. I am in love.
Verliebt.

The metro station closest to our hotel, which was right down town on the mainland side.
First meal: Dim Sum. I wish there was dim sum in Stuttgart, I liked it a lot. The fried one was great and crisp. The Soft fluffy buns in the back were filled with bbq pork. Those were my favorite. The meatballs in the back of the picture were a bit glibbery. The one in the front was some kind of pork dim sum as well.
Erstes Essen: Dim Sum.
The streets of Mong Kok were super busy and colorful./Alles so schön bunt, und laut und blinkt. Stadtteil Mong Kok bei Nacht.
I liked how you can walk above the streets./ Diese Erfindung, einfach ein Stockwerk über den Straßen zu laufen. Genial.

The first half day was really already an amazing one. Such an amazing city. Even after journeying from Germany to Hong Kong I wasn't tired enough to go to bed before 12 in the evening. Actually we wanted to watch a soccer match from the world cup, but that was really too late and to complicated (you had to consume 24€ worth drinks to be allowed to watch the game at the bar, I don't think my liver would have liked that, and we didn't want to be all hung over the next day).

Becoming a Godmother

Victorias daughter Aleks was baptized while I was there. My cousin and I had the honor of being the godparents. A really special day.

I really enjoyed the day and wish I could spend more time with those two. The last picture captured the day pretty well. A drink in one hand, a balloon in the other one. Center of attention.

Next Stop: HONG KONG! The city of my dreaaaaaams!

Road Trip Bulgaria

I went around the country for a week, to shoot the buildings I need for my master thesis and do some measuring work. Made a little photo-diary out of it.

I wanted to take a swim, but had to finish my work. And the next day was all rainy and gray. Thats what they call bad luck. Pech.

Days in Sofia

I went to Bulgaria for a little research. Writing a master-thesis about traditional Bulgarian residential buildings is a bit trickier than I thought so I had to come and get the information. The internet was not much of use for this topic...
It was rainy in Sofia while I was there, making my way through the city with various transportation options.

Found this super cute coffee shop, which makes good coffee. At night it seems to be a bar.

Next time I'll try the Supa-Star Soups. Really hipster with vegan options and gluten free and such.
Sofia is a bit of a mess, but I really enjoy the buzz of the city and there is a lot beauty in-between the chaos.

Sadly there were clouds blocking my mountain view.
